Benington Lordship is a private family home and the garden is only open on selected dates throughout the season, as listed below. There is no public access to the grounds outside the advertised hours. Sorry, no dogs.
The tea room is open from Monday to Saturday 11-4pm during February only, when we serve a limited selection of savoury snacks, cream teas, tea, coffee and cakes. On all other openings, and on Sundays in February, refreshments are available in the parish hall in aid of St. Peter’s Church or village groups.
For pre-booked parties, outside normal opening hours, tea and coffee can be arranged when making a booking.

Saturday 1st February – Sunday 23rd February 2025
11am-4pm dailyThe gardens are opened every year in February when they are carpeted in a spectacular display of naturalised snowdrops around the remains of the Norman keep and surrounding moat. Hellebores, aconites and winter flowering shrubs are also in flower, as well as the coloured stems of acers, cornus and willow around the ponds.
Over the years, a collection of rare and unusual snowdrops has developed and many of these special plants can be found growing in the borders.

Monday 26th May 2025 2-5pmThe garden reaches its peak at the end of May, with bulbs and blooms galore. If you are looking for a family day out in beautiful, tranquil surroundings, please visit and enjoy delicious homemade teas in the village hall in aid of local charities.

Sunday 8 June 2025
11am-4pmPerfectly timed, just a couple of weeks after Chelsea Flower Show, this is a unique opportunity to purchase locally grown, garden worthy and unusual plants from approximately 12 specialist and award winning nurseries from the South East. We will be hosting this event in conjunction with the Plant Fairs Roadshow. Refreshments will be available on site.

Saturday 28th June & Sunday 29th June 2025
12pm-5pmBenington Lordship Gardens are open as part of the popular Benington Floral Festival & Open Gardens. Parishioners decorate St Peter's Church with fabulous floral displays along a chosen theme. Approximately six village gardens are also open to visitors. Teas, homemade cakes and light lunches are sold in the village hall where the proceeds go to St Peter's Church and village charities.

Saturday 23rd, Sunday 24th and Monday 25th August 2025
10am-5pmStarted in 2006 the Chilli Festival is a hugely popular family event attracting thousands of visitors over three days, offering a chance to buy chilli plants, products and sample foods from around the world. Over 60 pitches hosting the nation’s best known independent chilli traders selling everything and anything you can make with chillies. Stalls are set up throughout the garden and a wide range of refreshments is provided to help you cool down, including cold beers and ice creams. Come worship the pepper at Benington Chilli Festival next August bank holiday weekend!
